Vietnam Trip 2017: War Remnants Museum

24th February 2017 (Friday)

Founded on September 4, 1975, The War Remnants Museum is a member of The International Network of Museum for Peace (INMP) and the International Council of Museum (ICOM). It is the unique museum in Vietnam to systematically study, collect, conserve and display exhibits on war crimes and consequences inflicted on the Vietnamese people by foreign aggressive forces.

The entrance fee is 15,000 VND. Before you go in must stick the sticker on your cloth. My sticker had been lost after finished visit, cannot stick it on my travel notebook :(

In front of museum has some model of aircraft for you to take picture with.

This museum has few floors to visit. I started from the top.

I like the presentation of the exhibition which likes story telling. First, look at the picture and then read the description to know the message of the picture.

I did not really read through all the pictures because some pictures made me felt sad especially the effect of the Agents Orange (a type of chemical).  Many people especially baby become disability.  Many people were dead from the war.

Agents Orange was a powerful mixture of chemical defoliants used by US military forces during the Vietnam War to eliminate forest cover for North Vietnamese and Viet Cong troops. It was later revealed to cause serious health issues including tumors, birth defects, rashes, psychological symptoms and cancer.

Agent Orange named for the orange strip painted on the 55-gallon drums in which the mixture was stored.US planes sprayed some 11 million to 13 million gallons of Agent Orange in Vietnam between January 1965 and April 1970.

For those who like to know more about the war can sit at a room to watch the video.

Inside of museum has so many things to see.

The art by children are very beautiful.

At the ground floor of museum has souvenir shop (Artbook) which is open area. I bought a set of postcard which drawn by kids. Beside that you can find greeting card, note book, keychain, magnets and many more.  I paid 25,000 VND for postcard Tranh Thieu Nhi and 15,000 VND for postcard Studio Ghibi.
